There is some pictures of your day in Seraya Karangasem, on the May 20th, 2018 with some of us form the Medical Team of the Fair Future Foundation. It was a great day, very long as we left from the clinic very early on the morning, around 5:30 AM and we came back at 7:00 PM. The team for this day was composed by two medical doctor, three nurses, four assistants, so eleven people in total.
Improving Access to Health Care for the Poor: As usual, we meet terribly poor people, sick children whose families can not see a doctor as it is too expensive for them… People living in some very unhealthy places, with no access to water and very little to eat. We are doing our best with our means, but we would need a lot more medical means to be even more effective you know. We provided medical care, medicines, food donations (about 250 kilos), water filters and even some very local and basic cooking equipment, so that families could cook simple foods.
Yes, Poverty is clearly the key element behind the lack of access to health care, the poor cannot afford to purchase those things that are needed for good health, including sufficient quantities of quality food and health care. But, the relationship is also related to other factors related to poverty, such as lack of information on appropriate health-promoting practices from the local authorities who suppose to be in charge.
Poverty increase while the rich become even richer. It would be necessary for all these wealthy people, think to share a little bit with those who have nothing at all and who die of hunger, who die of not having access to basic medical care.
